UoN Hockey Teams Roar in Mombasa: Strong Performances in KHU League Battles

The University of Nairobi hockey teams made their presence felt at the coast this past weekend during the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) League matches held on April 19th and 20th, 2025, at the Mombasa Sports Club. Facing stiff competition, the Cubs, Lions, and the ladies’ team all showed grit, skill, and team spirit in a weekend of thrilling action.

UON Dynamites Detonate Storms in 52-36 Premier League Victory!

The UoN Dynamites delivered a commanding performance in the KBF Premier League, blowing away the Storms with a 52-36 win. From the opening whistle, the Dynamites brought intensity, teamwork, and precision, controlling the tempo and leaving the Storms chasing shadows.

With smart plays on both ends of the court and a defense that held strong under pressure, UoN proved they’re a force to be reckoned with this season. It wasn’t just a win—it was a statement.

UoN Champions a Drug-Free Lifestyle Through “Talanta Bila Uraibu” Campus Soccer Tournament

The University of Nairobi, in partnership with Masese Za Abdala & Rapture Resource Agency, hosted the vibrant "Talanta Bila Uraibu" Campus Soccer Tournament at the Main Campus Sports Grounds. Organized through the University’s Directorate of Sports, this two-day event held on the 12th and 13th aimed to promote a drug-free lifestyle among students through the power of sports.

MEAN MACHINE BOUNCE BACK STRATEGY

The Vice Chancellor held a consultative meeting today to discuss matters pertaining the performance of Mean Machine (UON Rugby team) and challenges thereof. The team agreed on a bounce back strategy which will see Machine reclaim their title in the Kenya Cup.

In attendance are; DVC(AA) -Prof. Leonidah Kerubo,KRU Chairman- Alexander Mutai, Mean Machine First Captain (1977)- Cliff Mukulu ,Ag. Director,Sports and Games-Rose Marete, Games Tutor in charge Rugby team-Raphael Kithuka and the current Mean Machine captain -Victor Mwangi.

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR,SPORTS AND GAMES

The Department of Sports and Games is one of the Core Central Departments of the University of Nairobi. Services offered at the Department include; Students recreational and competitive sports (indoor and outdoor),staff recreational services and other physical wellness consultancies. The Director's Office is situated behind Hall 3- off State House road. Other Sports and Games sections are located at various University Colleges /Campuses (including Kisumu and Mombasa).

UON BASKETBALL LADIES TEAM(DYNAMITES) TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RED BULL HALF COURT WORLD FINAL- 28TH SEPTEMBER 2022 – 2ND OCTOBER 2022

During the Kenya National qualifications and trials for the Redbull 3x3 Basketball Challenge, our ladies team (Dynamites) emerged as winners and so qualified for the world finals. The four ladies are Elizabeth Okumu, Faith Atieno, Shalon Gaceri, Alisha Ellora.

We wish them all the best as they prepare to participate in this global event.
