The University of Nairobi is set to host the Students Recognition & Awards Ceremony for the 2024/2025 Academic Year on 8th May 2026 at the prestigious Chandaria Auditorium. The event will bring together university management, student leaders, partners, donors, coaches, and stakeholders in celebrating and rewarding outstanding students who have excelled in sports, academics, leadership, and talent development.
The ceremony will recognize top-performing student, student athletes who have continued to raise the University of Nairobi flag high in various competitions both locally and internationally. Athletes from disciplines such as football, chess, athletics, rugby, volleyball, basketball, taekwondo, and other sporting activities will be honored for their dedication, discipline, teamwork, and outstanding achievements throughout the academic year.
Among the athletes set to be recognized is Ezekiel Karani, who is expected to represent Kenya at the upcoming Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025 in Kaluthara, Sri Lanka. His achievement continues to reflect the growing excellence and competitiveness of University of Nairobi athletes on the continental stage and serves as an inspiration to many young sportsmen and women within the University.
The student sports fraternity sincerely appreciates the Management for the continued support towards student athletes and sports development. Through facilitation of training programs, participation in competitions, and continuous investment in sports activities, the university has continued to provide an enabling environment for students to excel both academically and in co-curricular activities.
The support from the Administration, coaches, sponsors, partners, and stakeholders continues to play a major role in empowering students to compete confidently and achieve success at National and International levels. The Students Recognition & Awards Ceremony will therefore not only celebrate achievement but will also inspire more students to pursue excellence, leadership, teamwork, and discipline in all areas of life.
