University of Nairobi announces scholarships for graduate students

The University of Nairobi has advertised 137 scholarships for new Master's students in the upcoming academic year.
Director of Graduate School Prof Lydia Njenga said applications are open to students enrolling during the September 2020 intake.
She said eligible applicants must have completed and graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Nairobi in the 2018/2019 academic year.
Prof Njenga said the applicants should submit their application documents to their respective Deans or Directors by August 21.
She added that the scholarship excludes students in the School of Medicine, School of Dental Sciences and School of Nursing Sciences which requires mandatory two years practical experience before admission into the Master's programme.
Successful applicants should also possess a first class or second class upper division.

The scholarship is offered on merit and preference will be offered to the best students,” she said
Prof Njenga added that the applicants must have been admitted for the September 2020 intake in the particular programme.
“Scholarship is conditional and tenable for two consecutive years,” she said.
She added that successful applicants must take the scholarship at time of offer and no deferments and temporary withdrawal from studies while on scholarship.
The scholarship are also for full time students only and the student has to take the maximum number of units per semester.
Prof Njenga further said successful students must comply with the terms and conditions of the scholarship and complete their studies within the stipulated programme duration.
“Female candidates and candidates from less privileged regions or groups as well as candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply,” she said.
