The University of Nairobi Hockey Ladies Team, UoN Vigilantez, continued their impressive Premier League campaign last weekend with a hard-fought victory over Amira Sailors, securing maximum points in a thrilling five-goal encounter.
The victory adds another important three points to the Vigilantez’ campaign as they continue to find their footing in the Kenya Hockey Union Women’s Premier League following their promotion last season.
Despite being newcomers to the top flight, the Vigilantez have shown that they belong among Kenya’s best. After nine matches, the UoN side currently sits 7th on the league table with 10 points, having recorded two wins, four draws and three losses. They have scored 10 goals while conceding 11.
The weekend victory therefore comes at an important stage of the campaign, giving the team renewed momentum as they look to climb higher up the standings.
Against Amira Sailors, the Vigilantez displayed determination and fighting spirit in a closely contested encounter that produced five goals. The result underlined the team's growing confidence and ability to compete against more established Premier League opponents.
For a team playing its first season in the Premier League after promotion, the Vigilantez have every reason to believe that more is yet to come.
It is not over until it is over.
With the season still unfolding, the Vigilantez will be looking to build on this victory, collect more points and continue their upward movement in the standings.
Congratulations to the UoN Vigilantez on a crucial victory, and appreciation to Amira Sailors for a thrilling contest.
The Vigilantez are here — and they are not just here to participate.
