Goal Ball is a sport adopted specifically for visually impared players. They follow the sound of the ball as it rolls on the ground making a ringing sound to attract the competitors.When the ball crosses a designated area of the opponents field without being stopped, a goal is awarded. The objective of the game is therefore to score ten (10) goals more than the opponent to be declared the winner.

The University of Nairobi was represented in this event at the just concluded Eastern African Games held at JKUAT. The team was led by Samson Waweru, the team captain. The team consisted of two other players. The faced Kenyatta University and Kyambogo University in the competition.

The game's main asset is listening to the ball so as to catch it and the technique of throwing it so that it is not caught by your opponents. There is a definate energy in the game as each team tries to out-do the other.

The University of Nairobi Special Students were competing in this game for the first time. There was marked improvement from thier initial game, which they played with KU to thier second game which they played with the tougher Kyambogo University team. They scored one more goal in that game than they did with KU. The confidence of the team grew as they played longer. It was clear that with more practice and exposure to competition, the team will sore to greater heights.They emerged the third team overall and were awarded a Bronze Medal.
