The Mighty Nyati American Football Club from the University of Nairobi was one of the teams representing team Kenya alongside Umoja Chiefs from Umoja Estate and Jkuat Sparrows from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology at the 10th Edition of the East African University Games. This served as a milestone on the march towards popularizing the game as it was given the regional platform to showcase the talents and abilities that is packed in the National team coming from all the three sides.

The defensive side put up a formidable fight early in the game shutting out the offense with spectacular tackles from the defensive backs spearheaded by Royphillips Owiti at Middle Lineback and Juma commanding the defensive line to rush the passers which threw off both the running and passing game of the offensive team. However, commanding runs from Mark 'Dupdup' Okello and Brian Nakitare ensured that the offensive team got enough grass for Quarterback Tonny Okello to throw open Fredrick Owuor for a touchdown pass and later for Yusuf Abbas to connect with Edwin Osuma in the end zone for another killer blow. This would wrap up what was a high octane contact football exhibition match that Coach Teddy Dunde was ultimately pleased about. Earlier on in the day, in the flag edition of the American football exhibition matches UoN Mighty Nyati's Red Team was able to see off Umoja Chiefs' White Team by one touchdown in another thriller match.

The next test for the team is a game that is scheduled for March 2017 against Jordan that will give the team their much needed first international match. For this match to happen, all three clubs making up the national team will have to pull their efforts with support from the general public and respective institutions to help host the Jordan Team here in Kenya.
